The content is going on several levels of elevation, helping the division of content, and also giving a pretty cool visual result.

The jungles plays a lot with this green color, with some eventual blue parts that create mist regularly. The wildlife uses the same colors, very tricky !
  3. From the album: Dalkannes isles

The mist gives a feel of mistery. Maybe I should add a special skybox here to make it even stronger.

The house doesn't really fit with the color theme. The idea was to make casripos (a new kind of mob) cultivage giant sarsaparillas, creating a nice sub-area full of them.

An isolated house of a fisherman. Nothing especially incredible, but you can feel the life of the man living there. It has its personality, something rare for a building you spawn.

While the space isn't actually big, it feels like the forest is going far away. You can also see that the grass is REALLY big, it has a very wild feel into it.

Another point of view on the harbour. You can see the under-water life from here, I wanted it to have some importance too !

This gives you an idea of what a player would see. Lot of grass, lot of seagulls and trees... The place is living, I love it.

I love clothlines. They make every city more liveful !... Since we're in a very humid place, they don't really make much sense but... Esthetic value > Coherence.

The place made for you to take a screenshot, with a statue for each human kingdom present on the island. The golden Lion showing Stormwind supremacy though. From left to right : Kul Tiras, Alterac, Stormwind, Lordaeron, and Stromgarde. The stairs are very white, and they are one of the reason I made this : I wanted super-clean bricks in a jungle. Don't ask why, I wanted that. It feels so out of place ! The barrack also gains visual impact from up there, it's super cool. Fun fact : Coming out of the barrack, you would generally try to jump on the golden lion.. Alas, it was impossible since the collision was a big block, making it VERY frustrating. Only because of that, I changed its collision. No you can jump on the lion and feel happy !

The houses are generally oriented to make them face the sea, or, more generally, where they have the most visibility. It's generally always like that : The place is structured for the player eye. Under one of the trees, there is even a bench where players can go and roleplay, facing the sea and its underwater forest. + you can also see the presence of wildlife, with these seagulls and crabs.

While this doesn't make sense since humans generally cut all trees, I wanted the place full of trees to make it feel still wild. Something you would tame but couldn't do totally because it would ask to much work. It really helps to make it look like a colony. Plus there are little lizards going on and out of the road from times to times. That's super cute and cool. This is hard to render in a screenshot though.

And alterac campment. Since the players have to choose their faction, we need these "out-of-style" place to give a little idea of what the faction could look like. It's dirtier yet very colorful. In our lore, they were only recently reintegrated by the alliance, and still very poor.

Date palms. An expert could tell me that you only cultivate these on "flat grounds".. But I wanted to be able to see the sea.. So the ground is tilted.
  15. From the album: Dalkannes isles

I wanted a coffee plantation, so I used litchis from MoP. Close enough.

Murlocs, with Legion models.. Getting dirtier and more liveful. They generally collect everything that is strange or shiny.

When I'm doing these kind of places, I'm afraid of void. I don't want any place on the ground that could eventually be seen as clean ! There are dead fishs, planks, flies, trashes, everywhere ! Now, it looks like murlocs live in a shantytown, and I love it.
  18. From the album: Dalkannes isles

That would make me want to play a murloc.
  19. From the album: Dalkannes isles

The wildlife underwater had to be as living as Vash'jir was. I wanted these areas to be their own kind of forest, more than just a filler area.

Underwater boats can tell a lot of stories and create treasures ! Why wouldn't you put some ?!
  21. From the album: Dalkannes isles

This screenshot is just here to show you the importance of the sand ground effect in the messy ground render.
  22. From the album: Dalkannes isles

If this murloc was friendly, he would sell some exotic stuff. "House" decoration tells stories.

    Underwater forest.

    Oil plant-13

The atmosphere of this place is amazing, I love it ! Your Otherlands project is by far one of the most interesting ones out there !
