3D Armors

hello. Inico. Can you show me more details about this 3d armors system? What I'm doing is to bring back blood elves old models in Legion. However I have no idea how to modify wod model files in order to display 3d armors correctly.

I have my own m2 C++ code written by myself to edit m2 files directly. Just tell me the reasons why the WoD model files have a floating armor sets.

Thank you so much !

Hello. I don't know. I don't work with WoD. Only WotLK.
Ported up a few models but never touched bone flags, dbcs or the collection system.

Without going into much detail, which I am unable to due to lack of knowledge, I suppose those floating armor sets share the skeleton of the player models, and when they are equipped, the part that was assigned to bone X of the armor skeleton is now assigned to bone X of the player skeleton, thus moving together with arms/legs/etc. in a nice way.

If I am right, what you could try doing is rename the bones of the old blood elf model to be same as the new one (and make sure the assignments are right, idk if they are updated automatically). You could also try renaming bones of the armor sets, but that would be a ~shitload~ of work.

I know that @Skarn is working on an M2 addon for blender, so in case you don't mind sharing the code, it really could help the modding community

or not
