Inmedia
Hello community, im just totally new to WoW model changing. So i got a problem: I want to modelchange my Lightshope Vannilla client with But when i download the main mod (4 parts) i can not open them with WinRar and/or 7zip. The files get named .001, .002,.003,.004 at the end. Manually renaming them to a .rar file works but than i cant open the archive and it says the archive is broken. So anyways, i downloaded the Balsh models patch file and installed it succesfully. ITS AWESOME! BUT: do i miss out ANY model with Balsh models file only? Do i need the main mod aswell for maximum model reskins?! If so how can i succesfully download/open the archive? Thanks and regards
Valaryon
Uthil's files are .MPQ files. MPQ files cannot be opened with WinRar or 7zip and need to be opened with Ladik's MPQ Editor which you can find here. http://www.zezula.net/en/mpq/download.html As for Balsh Models Patch file, I have no idea what the file contains so I cannot verify anything for you myself. Typically when MPQs conflict, the one with the highest load order (typically first in number, and then first alphabetically) is the one that gets overwritten as far as I know. If you have two conflicting MPQs what will happen is that the MPQ with the highest load order will overwrite the others. So if you have two different Tauren NPC models, the highest load ordered one will be displayed, and not the other. Basically, your two MPQs should work just fine together unless they conflict. Inmedia
no i do not want to open Uthils .mpq files, i just want to open the archive which CONTAINS the .mpq file...the archive is a winrar or winzip one but i can not open it because it says the archive is broken. Also i dont downlaod .rar files the files are named .001 ; .002 ; .003 ; .004 by my windows after i downloaded them (windows 10)
Inmedia
basically my problem is i dont get the mpq file since i cant open the archive succesfully... so if anyone could may upload the .mpq file as a standalone and not as archive that would fix my problem?! Valaryon
I'm unable to download the file myself since it wants Mediafire Pro, so I can't help you more than this. However, from what you described it sounds like an issue with what Uthil's uploaded rather than the individual files themselves.
Inmedia
Strange, i dont need mediafire pro to download them... So somehow i managed to make 3 of the files to a winrar archive...but the fourth i am unable to make it a winrar archive file...even after mutliple deletes and redownloads, i even tried 7-zip AND winrar... So if someone just could upload the .mpq file INSIDE the archive i would be so thankful!
Valaryon
I figured it out and tried it myself. Looks fine. Was able to extract them all, and open them individually. Make sure you're WinRar or 7zip is updated. I was using 7zip.
wungasaurus
Don’t rename anything, open the first file in zip/rar, click extract. This has been how large files are distributed for decades, and is not modding related at all. https://www.techwalla.com/articles/how-to-extract-split-zip-files
Uthil
Yes, as wungasaurus said, you only need to right click the 1st file, or open it with WinRar, and choose extra here or to folder of your choice. I used 7zip application, which is a freeware since 1996, since it can achieve better and overall compression from Winrar or Winzip. If winrar doesn't recognize the file, you will have to go to its options and choose to associate it with this extension, or simply download the 7zip application and use it with the same method to extract and get the file. Once extracted you will get Patch-3.mpq, that's for creatures/spells/world etc. Same issue has been answered/resolved in the patch-1.2 comment section of the mod.
